Former US Vice President Joe Biden has won Alabama’s Democratic primary for president of the United States. Barack Obama’s former Vice President will win the state by a sizable margin over his rivals, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, US Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, and US Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Biden has made numerous stops in Alabama since leaving office. In 2017, he held a rally for Democratic US Senate candidate Doug Jones, who is now a sitting member of the upper chamber of Congress and up for re-election this year. Biden also made an appearance in Selma, Ala., over the weekend to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday civil rights marches there along with Bloomberg and Warren. Sanders did not attend.
